10. What support do we have for you as a parent of child with an SEND?

  • Class teachers are regularly available to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns you may have and to share information about what is working well at home and school so similar strategies can be used.
  • Mrs Steers (our Inclusion Manager) is available to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress or any concerns/worries you may have.  She is available every morning between 8:30am to 8:50am to meet with parents, or an appointment can be made to meet with her at alternative time.
  • Parent Drop-Ins are also held termly within the school hall.  This allows you to come in and gain advice from outside agencies, such as Magenta Housing, Wirral Autistic Society and the school nurse.  Some parents just want to come in and have a cup of tea and a chat with other parents – everyone is welcome.
  • All information from outside professionals will be discussed with you with the person involved directly, or where this is not possible, in a report.
  • Person Centred Plans will be reviewed with your involvement each term, so you know exactly how your child is progressing and what their expected outcomes are.  This enables us to work in partnership together.
  • A home/school contact book may be used to support communication with you, when this has been agreed to be useful for you and your child.
