To start the new half term, we have decided to start a new reading initiative in Key Stage 1 called 'Reading Stars'. This scheme has been started to help raise the profile of reading, both at school and at home.
For every day that a child reads at home, they are awarded with a small star. When they practice their reading for five days, their small stars are replaced by an even bigger star. And big stars are exchanged for rewards.
This reading challenge, has been very successful so far and pupils are loving reading their books at home, as well as in school.
